Mango Lassi

The other day I looked into switching away from synergy to Mango Lassi. I only use it between two machines, so I figured my use case was simple enough that it should work at this stage. I was not disappointed. I was getting some very strange behavior with synergy and vmware, and Mango Lassi has none of that. Plus it gives an OSD telling you which machine the mouse/keyboard are being used on, which is a nice perk.

Anyway, I was so happy with it that I made packages for openSUSE. You can get it from my build service repository.

Sadly, I use synergy with the “legacy operating systems” so I’m still doomed to use synergy. Which is annoying when it gets that shift-lock going.

    D. Moonfire: Yeah, that is unfortunately one of the big draw backs at the moment. Someone needs to port it to windows :)

Dude, Mango Lassi is not really ready for public consumption. You can’t event add or remove desktops to your session. Or change the order. I am really surprised that it works for you in a way that you feel it is usable.

    – And I say that as the guy who wrote Mango Lassi!

It would be great if I could hand over maintainership of ML to someone who has the time and is capable of finishing it. Anyone?

Lennart: Oh, I know it isn’t really ready yet. I am actually working on fixing the order changing stuff right now :)

Still, it works better than synergy for me.

Did u know what Mango Lassi means?

Lassi is a very famous sold drink made of Curd (Dahi in Hindi). Mango lassi is mango flavor of Lassi.
I hope it will be ready in this summer.

I am using mango-lassi all day at work - and honestly the bigger problem than not being able to change order is how often it drops the desktop connection. If I send an email in evolution… blam, gone. That said, I’m still using it - so as you say - it’s still better than synergy.

I would be quite excited about any further development to mango-lassi.
